Update to the review the 50″ TV arrived but after moving the TV a few feet when decorating the room the ariel connection fell clean off from the TV snapped, Went through toshiba for it to be fixed, they state that it wasnt covered by warranty and that it would have to be done privately beacuse it has been stress tested, well given that it must have been pretty badly stress tested as in all my years i’ve never know it to happen on any TV i’ve ever owned, So while the TV is decent in many ways the warranty terms are clearly in their favour so for that simple reason i’d avoid them at all costs, will never buy a toshiba product again it’s nothing to them in truth, after product support is just as important as the product in my view.
The 50″ TV is my mothers and she is none to happy will seek private repair, but be warned if you have a issue then true amazon will take the return but don’t expect toshiba in all cases to help you or even recommend a local repairer or even reply to a secondary email.

Remote could be better it’s so similar to a firestick one, however the picture is so nice and crisp and it found my surround system on it’s own didnt need to get to a setting, not that i could find them. Alexa on the other hand as i couldn’t find a way to switch source on the remote i asked alexa to do it and would you know said ok and done so.
My old Tv was 1080p bravia but you sure notice the 4k and HDR10 massive difference and well worth the cost at this 30%+ off.
I was confident enough in the reviews to order this 43″ for my room, but mum was also so a 50″ coming soon, really a good little TV built in freeview play, for me i’ll use it for films and playstation, didnt have the issue others had said about the guide but i think that is wifi based and in this house we have gigabit internet so maybe why as it loads the guide quickly, as you can watch live TV or have the option to load on catch up all from the guide so your not miss 10mins of anything so simple 🙂
for the offer price you cant really do better, if i have any issues i’ll report back, but it’s worth getting at that price very affordable 🙂
Amazon Customer –
Quick delivery & easy assemble for the stand…which is quite heavy
Initial set up is easy, the remote & TV pair up & off it goes setting up both avaliable channels & links to your Amazon Prime account quickly.
The initial quick set up instructiona are poor, so better to download the full manual from Toshiba.
Initial positive impressions are:
Excellent picture quality/amazing picture quality in UHD/MUCH quicker to operate than having a seperate Fire Stick set-up/easy navigate the various screens/apps/like the addition of Alexa
Negative impressions are:
The TV speakers are poor….more like a mumble, not very crisp tbh/cannot schedule a channel to come on at a later time/channel list takes time to catch up to current time/can’t sort out teletext for BBC channels….unless it’s just me?
& always check for updates….there will be a lot in the 1st 3-4 days!
Overall not a bad Fire/HD TV & the picture quality is excellent, although a little slow to operate …it’s no Samsung…but it’s not a Samsung price

I got this TV to replace my 10 year old TV that is still going strong, so I decided to stay with the same brand and after having the TV for a while now I am more than pleased with it.
The picture and sound quality will give the more expensive models a run for their money.
The TV turns on in seconds and it is easy to setup and get viewing in no time. If you are on a tight budget and these days who isn’t, well you can’t go wrong as far as I am concerned.
The 4k feature is perfect for all my gaming needs, sure if you spend an extra couple hundred pounds you can get the latest TV but this one is of good enough quality that I am glad I saved my cash.

I purchased this TV for my 92 year old Grandmother who is hard of hearing. About 12 months ago i changed my nan from an older style tv to a newer flat screen LCD TV, ever since i installed it she has complained that she is unable to hear any dialogue coming from the TV. As a result i have been on the look out for an easy to use, simple, good quality audio TV to replace the old one for my nan.
When i came across this TV i studied the reviews and most were extremely positive, as a result i ordered this TV for her. The box this TV comes in is huge, however it is a 55″ set. Unpacking and screwing on the included stand was very easy and completed in about 10mins. One thing that really attracted me to this TV was the simplicity of the TV remote. My nan get’s very confused with complicated remotes with lots of buttons on! It has dedicated buttons for Netflix and Disney which are easily identifiable. The TV itself is very attractive with a central stand. It looks super smart and appears very well made.
Turning on the TV requires you to sign into an amazon account, once this is completed the TV updated itself via the ethernet connection i plugged into the rear of the set (it also has wifi if you are unable to hard wire). Once the software update completed i went through the standard fire stick set up which is super easy. I installed a few basic apps for her like Netflix and Britbox. The app store on this TV is vast and just like a normal fire stick.
The TV scans for digital Terrestrial channels and puts them in order on the TV guide. Selecting live TV is as easy as pushing one button on the remote. Picture quality was excellent! Crisp and clear images with good contrast, brightness and details visible. Changing to fire OS again was super easy for my nan, you just press the House button and it takes you to the front screen. Now for the most important test, could my hard of hearing grandmother hear what the actors were saying – YES! She could hear every word! I was super chuffed!
In summary this Toshiba Fire TV is absolutely amazing value for money! The set is super smart, picture quality is fantastic and the audio is loud/crisp and super clear! My nan is over the moon with the TV. I have waited over a week to write this review to ensure my nan is happy with the TV, she still is (which is very unlike her to be honest!)
I can not recommend this TV enough to others. Fire TV OS is a great smart platform and to have it built into a TV set makes it so much easier for elderly people – my nan would never be able to change a HDMII source on the TV!
Fantastic TV – Amazing Value for Money.
I hope that you found my review helpful.
