This kettle from Tower is a good quality one – it is well made and it arrived well packed, in perfect condition.
What’s good? The kettle feels well designed- it is quick boil and the pouring spout is really good – no drips or splashes at all. It is lightweight – if you have trouble with your wrists or your grip, perhaps from arthritis, this is a good buy. The lightness comes from two aspects – 1. The construction is substantially of light plastic. That is not to say it’s cheap, or poor. It feels strong and well-made, but the plastic allows it to be lightweight, and to have a stylish finish, and 2. The kettle holds 1.5 litres, which is a little less than the ‘standard’ 1.7l or 1.75l, which means it is a little smaller and holds a little less (whilst still easily making 3-4 good mugs full and 5-6 cups (a cup being around 250ml and a mug 350ml)) and it sits on a 360 degree swivel, non slip base. It has a flip top lid and is easy to fill. The water level indicator is below the handle and it is clear to read. The handle feels secure in your hand even when the kettle is full. The kettle also has a removable, washable filter and a boil dry function for safety. With slightly less than typical contents and a 3kW power, the boil is a bit quicker than usual as well. It looks very modern and stylish with its 3D diamond pattern decoration and steel trim. I chose the grey coloured one which looks very smart.
Any limitations? The fill level display is actually under the handle. It’s reasonably easy to see, though, just a bit harder to notice if you are holding the kettle under the tap to fill it (as opposed to standing the kettle on its base and running the water in). That’s really about all there is. And it’s not a massive issue.
Summary With a capacity of 1.5 L, it is ideal for a smaller household or for a student going to university. It’s lightweight, seems well made, and boils really quickly (if you only boil a single cup, it’ll do it in less than 60 seconds). It also has a 3 year guarantee and is reasonably priced.
I recommend this a a really good purchase.
