I would say better than my Dyson.
My Dyson DC24 died. It was nearly 5. Bought this as it was one of the better ones in the model line up. This vacuum cleaner is about 50% larger than the small dyson but weighs the same. The steerable action is not bad. Does the job. Not as fluid as the Dyson but still glides over.
The first thing you’ll notice is how powerful the suction is. There is a small light which is green but when somthing is jammed or you go over the wire it cuts out, which i say is an excellent thing to prevent you breaking it before its too late. The sliding vent which allows you to kind of break the air seal so it won’t suck itself still to the floor. Have it half open and that’s brilliant. Close it all for a once a week clean and you will get all the micro particles embedded into the carpet and it’s quite surprising as to how much dust is in there.
The lift out function is immense. Release mechanism is easy to use and clear and it slots in easily without any problems. You just unclip the hose, press the button and Lift.
The On/off button looks identical to the brush switch, it’s not a problem but will take time to remember which side they are one.
It takes a good 30% off the weight when you lift it out, so it is incredibly easy to carry and hoover at the same time that compensates for the lack of hose extension on other models on the Stretch or the Reach. I would say it is better because you can get some step ladders instead and just carry it up high.
The turbo tool attachment sounds like a high powered car over revving its that strong and works amazing on the stairs paired with the lift feature.
You could hoover anywhere with the lift feature instead of wiping things.

Having owned many Dysons over the years I decided when our DC33 was looking a bit tatty to bite the bullet and shell out for a new DC53 Animal at £350 on sale which I thought was an absolute bargain (£100 less than usual price) It is multi cyclonic, bagless with washable filters just as you’d expect from a top of the range machine.
The reason I’ve stuck with Dyson over the years dispite their increasingly comic pricing is that having tried other vacuums (including Vax) a number of years ago despite looking good on paper their ‘real world’ performance, design and ease of use etc. Just couldn’t compare, I felt that they were a false economy.
Well the DC53 is just utter rubbish, neither the flex or hose are long enough to get up the stairs (we have a regular sized set of stairs) it weighs so much my wife can’t carry it upstairs without risk of injury and whilst dragging its bloated carcass around the house it gets snagged on everything, then falls over!
It’s saving grace was that it cleaned our carpets and hard floors really well, or so I thought……
It was so bad that a month after I bought it I couldn’t stand it anymore and I purchased a reconditioned upright Vax from a market stall to use until I could try one of the newer Dyson uprights.
Surprisingly the Vax was multi cyclonic and bagless with washable filters and to use it was an absolute revelation compared to the one I tried a couple of years ago, light, long enough flex to get upstairs and the amount of dirt it removed from my carpets (considering I’d done them already that morning with the Dyson) was startling, it only has a small collection bin but it was a third full!
My only criticism was the lack of tools and on the model I purchased (U87-Ma-Pe) and they were a pain to use.
I was so impressed with the usability, performance and overall ability of the machine that, that very afternoon, I decided to look on Amazon and find the latest ‘air lift’ model with all the tools mine hasn’t got, a better design for using the tools, a more powerful motor and the ability to lift the motor, collection bin and hose from the carriage with the touch of a button, halving the weight (not that its heavy anyway) so you can carry it around to clean areas that are less accessible, a really smart idea. It’s steerable (not that I think that brings anything to the party) and to top the whole package it’s a smart, modern looking machine with a six, that’s right, six year guarantee!
Best of all it wasn’t £400, nor even £300, £200 would have been a bargain and £100 a giveaway, how does £92 sound with free delivery?
I feel as though I stole it! It really is that good, not only does it beat my DC 53 hands down in every area that’s important to me (cleaning ability, weight, ease of use) it does it at a fraction of the price and with a better warranty, I’m converted.
I am just a regular customer, not a tester or anyone who’s been given a freebie to ‘compare’ I just thought that I’d been expensively duped by marketing hype for so long that now I’d realised far better options really do exist at much more realistic prices it was only right I helped others make a better decision and save some of their hard earned cash!
Happy vacuuming.
