I bought this hairdryer for my whole family to use as most of us have long hair.
We have been using it for 4 months now and it is great. It doesn’t overheat even though it gets used at least once a day.
It has 3 levels and 3 heats plus a cool override button to fix curls.
We are very happy with it. I suffer from weak wrists and it is super light which is my most important consideration.
Can recommend as I can’t say there are any problems with it at all

Not as light as I was expecting, I’d already bought the other that’s advertised with this but decided I’d bought the wrong one. After a few months I decided to give this a try, it’s longer than the other 🤔 and not any lighter in my opinion. Wouldn’t buy either again although the this one has a much longer lead than the first one

This is probably my 4th purchase of the same/similar hairdryer over a period of 20 years.
Great value and the only dryer diffuser combo that really works well with my curly hair.
Would recommend especially to those who are starting their curly journey. Don’t spend a fortune on products as dryers the classics are the best.

    WAHL Ionic Smooth Hairdryer

In short, if you want a hair dryer suited to drying hair on children or pets, and you don’t want to pay T3 prices, then you would do well to try this one.

Except for the stratospheric pricing of Dyson (and which wouldn’t be suitable due to the air blast) I have bought dozens and dozens of hairdryers (mostly from Amazon as there are few available from walk-in electrical stores). Further, I have read hundreds of specifications of models sold from the site…… from expensive GHD to cheapo unbranded ones. Just about every one pitch their sell on being heat & powerful and fast drying. Few of them consider these are NOT features you would want when working on animals or young kiddies.

If you could afford it, look at some of the small models by T3. These have the gentlest heat and mild air blast combination I have ever found. The Featherweight Compact is no longer produced but the Fit (for home use) and the Afar (for travelling) scores 4 stars for me. T3’s drop a star because their implementation (or understanding) of Cold Shot Button is somewhat different to all the other brands. What they have is a cold button. You press it and it is cold (or tepid heat) which comes out. Fine so far; but when you release your finger, it remains cold. You would have to press it again to bring on the heat.

Stupid what ? Every other brand, including GHD and this WAHL have implemented the cold shot button correctly; i.e. momentarily press it for a short blast of cold and heat returns when your release you finger.

This is one of the reasons why I score this WAHL 5 stars although the blast of air, even at the lowest setting is too strong. However, this factor could be partially compensated by holding the dryer further away (before ones had gets too tired) whereas the cold-on then cold-off switching on the T3’s could not be compensated. The other factor of course is that the WAHL is reasonably priced unlike the T3’s.

…… and before WAHL stop producing this model, I hurried and bought another one just in case, as seen in the photos. The only better buy I experience in 30 years of hunting for a suitable dryer is the 29 year old Phillips Silencio 1500 (yellowed with age in one of the photos but this has no Cold Shot or a cold button).

    Update.
Read the instructions again which said the filter needs to be removed for cleaning occasionally. Tried to remove filter again but not possible. Conclusion = cut and pasted instructions from another model without quality control on the instructions.
