I’ve always used a standard hand held corded hedge trimmer and that meant needing a step ladder and a good sense of balance and if cutting a hedge at the end of the garden a very long and awkward power extension line. So i was keen to give this a try and it makes life much much easier.

This is battery powered and the battery arrives with some charge but it is best to charge it up full using the included usb cable. It is great that is uses usb instead of a cradle which can easily be lost.

The trimmer is very easy to use. It is important to set the length of the telescopic pole via the open close clamp before starting and make sure it is firmly closed. The same for the angle adjustment of yhe cutting head. Both of whoch can be adjusted in seconds and quite easily. You don’t need a firm grip.
They include a shoulder strap which helps with the weight or if you are cutting a long hedge as your back and arms will start to ache after a while. Although it is surprisingly well balanced with the battery at the base.

Cutting power is ok. It’s a 20v battery so will be fine for most light hedges and maintenance. Anything bigger yhan your pinky finger and you will need something more heavy duty. I really like the rounded end as it helps prevent the trimmer getting caught or jammed on branches too easily.

Battery life is ok. A 2000mah battery will give you about an hour of use. So it’s good for doing one or 2 hedges. Or light maintenance on a longer stretch. If you have a tall hedge following the full length of your garden you will probably have to do it in stages between charging.

Good quality, ok value. Recommended. Thank you for reading my review. I hope you found it useful

This is an excellent telescopic hedge trimmer. The trimmer itself works really well and has been excellent in helping me trim hedges, bushes, help trim back extraneous branches and leaves in some smaller trees I have in the gardens.

I haven’t yet used it at full length (it reaches up to 2.8 metres) and I can imagine it would be more difficult to wield at that length (already at certain positions I really notice the weight on the end of the pole). However, the battery is at the base and the top has been kept relatively lightweight.

It fits together easily and once connected holds extremely firmly. It feels very robust and hardy. I love that the charging mechanism is USB-C and it seems to charge quite quickly. The battery displays the held power as a percentage and it seems to last quite well. I have used it quite a lot already and would guess that the battery lasts 60-75 minutes.

The blades seem quite powerful and I was delighted to see just what it could trim back compared to the telescopic tree pruner I had been using and I love the blade cover that fits securely over the blade area. I have used the pivoting head a lot and it twists through just less than 180 degrees. It does come with a shoulder strap though haven’t got the hang of using that yet.

It is a delight to use, well made, works well, easy to assemble and charge. I think it is great.

    This is a superb trimemr

I do always regard battery powered garden tools as a convenient but light-duty alternative to their petrol counterparts, but when faced with a particularly out of control box hedge, I thought I’d give this a go first before investing in something heavier duty.

My first surprise when opening this, was that the battery charges via USB! Supposedly it offers USB PD charging supposedly, but it ships with a USB-A to USB-C cable. To be clear, USB PD charging is ONLY supported when charging USB-C to USB-C, so what’s the deal here? I don’t know, I lack the equipment to test if this actually supports the PD standard, if it does, then great, that will certainly cut charging times down. Charging from USB A, you’re looking at a maximum of 15W-20W charging, which equates to a couple of hours to fully charge this device. If it does actually support USB PD, then with a compatible powerbank, you could potentially greatly extend the working life of this tool.

Second surprise, it’s powerful! It actually is more than up to the task at hand, snipping through a tough hedge with ease. I used it for about thirty mins at a time between charging. Others state an hours working time, I can’t confirm this. The battery life is fine for the typical domestic garden, however, if the ability to fast charge via USB-C PD is actually implemented, then I could see this being a useful tool even for professionals.

One aspect that lets it down. It’s not well weighted. Petrol trimmers are generally counterweighted and come with highly adjustable straps to make them very comfortable and easy to use. This really is just a motor right out on the end of a pole and is quite tiring to use.

Ultimately, for domestic use, this is a great tool, but I will caution that there are plenty of other options available for similar, and less, money, and if you have a large estate to manage, your back will thank you for choosing a model with more thought paid to ergonomics.
